The Breeder's Cup 2007
Abstract Artist has defeated all odds once again. Her career as a racer has now ended after sustaining an injury during the race. Here is the Pre-Race Opinion of wildfire's father: 'Abstract Artist - 1/1 Class of the field, Matriarch Winner.' Here is the play-by-play of the race she was entered in: And now on to the Breeder's Cup Filly and Mare Turf! Abstract Artist is unsurprisingly the favorite, as she is the only horse in this field ever to win a GI race, beating out horses such as Inspiring and Just Kiss the Girl in the process. However, it isn't going to neccesarily be a romp for her, as Thee Warning is a decent horse in her own right and is not going to let her win without a fight. The maiden, NS Shocking Dream, while she isn't going to win on pure talent, could possibly pull an upset. And now to the post parade. Abstract Artist is extremely eager and alert. She's at the top of her game right now, and has been working well too. Nobody'll be surprised if she pulls off a win, and it won't be completely surprising if she doesn't either. NS Shocking Dream, a nice-looking filly, is a Draft Dodger foal and has the bloodlines to pull off a win, but hasn't done anything super before and could be in over her head. And Thee Warning, a moderately raced mare with potential, is last. She's looking very hyped up and ready to go. She'll give Abstract Artist a run for her money for sure. And they're at the gates. They all load without a fuss, and all is quiet as they wait for the race to go off. NS Shocking Dream goes right to the front. Thee Warning broke cleanly, but Abstract Artist stumbled badly, almost stopping dead to regain her composure before starting to run. NS Shocking Dream leads by 2, followed by Thee Warning, and Abstract Artist runs 4 back. They're all running smoothly now, nobody's worried about position it seems right now, and NS Shocking Dream leads the way. She's loping along, it's a very slow pace, which is fine for them all. A quarter mile in 25 flat, and she's just mosying along as if this was a morning workout and not a race. NS Shocking Dream, even at this slow tempo, is slowly but steadily increasing her lead. Abstract Artist is keeping about 4 lengths behind Thee Warning. This race is very slow-moving indeed. A half in 52 3/5, and 3/4 in 1:17 1/5. This is definitely not going to be a record-breaking race, but now with a half mile to go the pace is sharpening. Thee Warning overtakes NS Shocking Dream in a matter of seconds, and now Abstract Artist is asked for some run. NS Shocking Dream is tiring, even with her jockey's urging, and this last quarter went by in a much faster 22 seconds. Thee Warning is 3 clear, but here comes Abstract Artist. The game filly is digging in and giving it her all. She's closing like lightning, but can she catch Thee Warning? Without much time left, Abstract Artist is just barreling down the center of the track. Two strides to the wire and she's a length behind. One stride left and she gives it a final burst of energy. And she won it by a neck! Thee Warning second, NS Shocking Dream third by 5. Congratulations to Abstract Artist and connections, she's a great filly. Hm... looks like she might have pulled something in her leg, though. Or perhaps she just threw a shoe, but I'd have her checked out by the vet, just to check.'

Double Cross Derby
Abstract Artist put in a solid race in a very stressful competition setting. She ended up with a fourth, after having to dodge Inspiring on the track. Here is Sherlock's commentary: 'Hello and welcome to the Double Cross Derby! It's another fine day here at MHS, and I'm sure we're all looking forward to a spectacular race. Now today's race will be conducted over a distance of 1 1/4 miles. The winner will not only recieve a large purse, but also a studded halter and a chance for the La Copa Del Diamante. Only the best horses can stand a chance at that prestigious cup, for it means they must win all four Diamante races. The horse gets an added bonus if they are consecutive. This is only the 1st leg, though as the months progress wse may get more into detail about that. For now, though, let's take a quick look at the post parade. Abstract Artist finished up the post parade, she's looking a little overwhelmed by the excess amount of noise and action, but she's at the top of her game and will still be hard to beat. [Vendetta decides to throw rears and such and Abbie is hurriedly loaded and] walks in daintily and without question. And they're off! Vendetta shoots right to the front, and GS Remington is on his tail. Admiral's Revenge is with them as well, and then a gap to Impossible Determination and Abstract Artist. Inspiring broke sideways, and after a few bad steps, she's up running with the rest. Vendetta is running freely on the front end, not really trying yet but still keeping a good length between himself and GS Remington, who is being tightly held by his jockey. Right to his outside Admiral's Revenge is running. A gap of 3 to Impossible Determination, who's followed by Abstract Artist on the rail and Inspiring, running neck and neck. A quarter went in 24 and 2, and Vendetta is running easily. Nobody's trying to overtake him, and in fact no one's trying to do much at all. They're all running pretty mildly, and it's a very slow pace indeed. GS Remington is inching up on Vendetta, and the younger colt speeds up a little to keep a 2 length gap between them. 1 length back to Admiral's Revenge. 3 back to Impossible Determination, 1 behind him to Abstract Artist and Inspiring. They're running very calmly, and a half mile went by in 53 flat. Still very slow. 3/4 of a mile in 1:18. And Inspiring now makes a move, pulling herself up in front of Impossible Determination. The stallion fights back gamely, and - oh no! Inspiring suddenly goes down, and Abstract Artist has to check very very sharply to avoid hitting horse or rider. Up in front, Vendetta is getting the pressure put on now by both GS Remington and Admiral's Revenge. Impossible Determination had to check when Inspiring went down as well, though not as hard as Abstract Artist, and the gap between the two groups lengthen. Impossible Determination runs 2 in front of Abstract Artist. And now Inspiring's rider is getting up, but Inspiring hasn't yet. A mile in 1:45, and they're starting to really run now, as Vendetta makes his final attempt to break off from the field. But now GS Remington and Admiral's Revenge are up and after him, and GS Remington overtakes the younger colt with ease. Impossible Determination is making his move too, but of them all Abstract Artist is putting in the most. Her jockey is doing everything in their power to get her moving, but with only a quarter of a mile to go, there's no chance of catching the leaders. GS Remington overtakes Vendetta and powers to the lead, and he sweeps under the wire 3 in front. Vendetta second, Admiral's Revenge third.'

Abbie blew us away again. OMG. I love this horse. Anyway, she had three races at this meet and won all three of them, including the heat with 8 horses in it with Touchstone & GS Remington in the pack. Congrats sweetheart!
Matriarch Classic
Being Abbie's first big stakes race, we didn't expect anything too incredible from her especially since she was up against a few names like Inspiring and Just Kiss The Girl. She placed in the warmup race right behind Inspiring and then we moved into the main race. She won! We're extremely proud of our wonder filly!

Abbie ran her very first race at Golden Memories and surprised us all. We all expected her to settle somewhere in the middle of the pack because of her lack of training. Instead, she took over a field of ten other maidens and won! Our wonder mare has done it!
