Preston recieved a third in this highly competitive race (Unicorn Horn Classic). We are thrilled with his performances this season and will be bumping up his training just slightly to help him get ahead of the intense competition this year. "Passionate Class was able to settle far back away from the leader most of the race. Anarchi didn't like the turtle pace so took it upon himself to lead for most of the first mile. He faded badly on the turn because of the suicidal pace he set early on. Simply A Flyer (who needs an update in her personality) and CCI Surprise Party (I couldn't find any workouts pertaining to how he was running as of late, but I did love his personality) just played along, not caring who was setting the pace and who was following. On the far turn Simply A Flyer and CCI Surprise Party made their moves and passed Anarchi, but it would be Passionate Class who had the last laugh. He ran by them as though they were standing still and took the Unicorn Horn Classic by four and three quarter lengths and going away. What a comeback it was for him! Simply A Flyer and CCI Surprise Party duked it out, but Simply A Flyer was game enough to draw away from him by a length. Anarchi was four lengths farther back behind CCI Surprise Party, fighting to run faster even though he was extremely tired after his run. It was a good race everyone!"

Here is Preston's description, pre-race: "CCI Surprise Party loads into gate five. This colt is described as being unstoppable when focused on something, but apparently he usually can't focus! That's a very two year old quality. He also can't hold his attention for more then nine furlongs - eight furlongs is pretty close to that. I wonder how he'll do today - he's the wild card this race." And here is a recap of the race, Preston recieving fifth when it was all said and done: "They are all in......and they're off! Right off the bat Speed Demon and The True Nut take the lead. These two are having quite a fight up there, and they are leaving the field behind! Three lengths behind the two dueling leaders is DW Flamekissed coasting along calmly in third. Crooked Fire was off half a beat late, and he's running beside Flamekissed in a close proximity fourth. Gorgeous George is one length behind that pair, looking very confident as he ghosts along on the outside, switching quickly to the inside as the first turn comes up and slowly creeping up on his competitors. Sneak Peak is loping along in sixth, running well but looking a bit distracted by something. CCI Surprise Party is running two lengths behind her, taking his time. They hit the first turn and curve around to the backstretch. Two furlongs down already, six more to go! Speed Demon has won the speed duel and is really putting it on - he needs to slow down if he's going to have anything left. A disgruntled The True Nut lets him lead by half a length, never any more. DW Flamekissed has not changed his speed, but now Crooked Fire is sent forth to get a position behind the leaders. Gorgeous George has been slowly creeping up all this time, and he's running a quarter length behind Flamekissed. Sneak Peak has fallen even more back, and CCI Surprise Party is looking smooth in her former place. He creeps up, gliding past Gorgeous George but then falling back again. He seems to be having some concentration problems.....Sneak Peak reappears once more, but seems more content following Surprise Party rather then passing him. Halfway through the backstretch, four furlongs to go! Speed Demon is starting to look a bit weary up there, but he is not giving up. This horse is known for outstanding determination, after all. The True Nut is creeping up now, drawing up beside his flank and sending the colt into a small fit of rage. He wants nobody up there with him today! Gorgeous George has passed DW Flamekissed and is closing the distance, but Flamekissed is picking up and coming right after him. The two colts move up, getting themselves into position to challenge. Crooked Fire is still ghosting behind the two leaders, but he's starting to look a bit pressured. Speed Demon has set a blazing pace today, and the horses in front are starting to tire because of it. CCI Surprise Party has closed in on the outside of Flamekissed, effectively trapping the colt on the rail. Gorgeous George runs directly in front of Flamekissed, and there seems to be no room for Flamekissed to run. Sneak Peak is still distracted - I don't think she'll crack it in time to make it in. And they are coming to the stretch, and EVERYTHING is happening! Gorgeous George has been given the order to go, and the blazing chestnut is really setting his sights on it! He's closing the distance, he's passed the tiring Crooked Fire and is now going wide around the stretch turn! He's got the lead, he's holding it, he's running away.....but ohhhhh! It's DW Flamekissed coming on to challenge! The bay has come into play, he's creeping around, they are nose to nose. Sneak Peak is not moving, Crooked Fire has dropepd back. Speed Demon is valiantly fighting, but the sprinting has taken it's toll! He's dropping back and still fighting, now against the oncoming CCI Surprise Party! Party is stuck on the outside, not his favorite spot at all, as the stretch is reached! Demon is holding out, digging in, but never mind that. The leaders are having the time of their careers! Gorgeous George has a nose in front, he's starting to pull away.....BUT OH MY GOD!! The True Nut! The filly! The buckskin filly! She's revved it up and is right there with George! They've trapped DW Flamekissed in between them, Flamekissed has no room to move up, he's dropping back to come at them from the outside.....but it's too late! THey cross the wire, and it is.....Gorgeous George by the barest nose! The True Nut comes in second, DW Flamekissed a half length back in third. Speed Demon comes plodding in at fourth, two lengths behind them, with CCI Surprise Party a neck back in fifth. Crooked Fire finished sixth one length behind them, and Sneak Peak never really moved and finishes last, three lengths behind Crooked Fire."

Korona led an aggressive race to win out over CCI Surprise Party at the finish. The Underdog ran closely, but couldn't pull out another gear to challenge for second at the finish. DT Jupiter didn't seem to be in the right sorts this race and no matter the urgings of his rider, never really rallied to challenge the leaders.

We entered Preston due to a lack of entries from the get go and didn't expect much. He actually was expected to get a good placing and performed EXTREMELY well for being a maiden. He got a third against a very tough field, despite tiring quickly. You know that he won't make that mistake more than once. We're very proud of this colt and decided to keep him in the stable rather than sell him. Here's the post race info about Preston, "The striking palomino CCI Surprise Party is next. He's visably concerned with the huge crowd, shuffling his feet and shying away from the flash of cameras. His groom is trying to keep him settled down. CCI Surprise Party has taken the role of most worked up, spooking repeatedly at the large crowd. His jockey is working him very hard to get his attention off the fans. CCI Surprise Party has calmed a little and loads without incident." And now, the race played out by Sherlock, "And they're off! Speed Demon breaks fastest, with Something's Not Right bolting out of the gate alongside him, pinching Warlock back slightly. CCI Surprise Party broke well, but Amarillo Sky hopped at the break and now runs last behind Warlock. Speed Demon and Something's Not Right are dueling for the lead, with CCI Surprise Party running uncomfortably in third, trying to get to the front. Warlock seems a little uneasy with his position, but is beginning to settle a bit. Amarillo Sky drifts up next to him, and sparks fly as the two colts eye each other up. Meanwhile, Speed Demon pulls away from Something's Not Right, and a quarter flashes by in 22 3/5. Something's Not Right is running to his outside, and CCI Surprise Party is being angled out to run for the lead. He takes a few huge bounds and steals the lead from Speed Demon. Warlock and Amarillo Sky have dropped 4 back, both colts simply glaring at each other at relaxed gallops. But they haven't been asked for anything yet. And a half in 45 flat. CCI Surprise Party is fighting for his head, looking almost frantic in his attempts. His jockey gets him over to the rail and tries to settle him down. Speed Demon is behind him, with Something's Not Right in a perfect striking position 3rd. And with 3 to go, Something's Not Right makes his move, easily sailing past the tiring CCI Surprise Party and Speed Demon, who is stuck on the rail as CCI Surprise Party falters. But here come the two trailers. Eye and eye they pound down the center of the track, focusing solely on each other. But they'll need more to catch Something's Not Right. And Warlock has it! He pulls away from Amarillo Sky and catches Something's Not Right with a 16th of a mile to go! And now he's pulling away with absurd ease, still under a hand ride as he sweeps under the wire 3 in front. Something's Not Right finished 2nd, CCI Surprise Party struggled in for 3rd over Amarillo Sky, and Speed Demon faded to last." Congratulations, Preston! We're extremely proud of you!
