Riverwood Cup's The Goose Chase
"Welcome to Riverwood Acres' third race! Today we have an intense field of fillies. These fillies are all highly bet for and are highly anticipated.
First up in gate one is Atalanta by the mare Augusta, an award winning mare never placing out of the placings. She prances around eagerly in the paddock. Atalanta puts up a small fight before loading. She tosses her head but finally gives up and loads easily.
Next up is Fairy Princess. Wow is this filly a top player! Having a poor record at the beginning of her career, she suddenly wins races after races. This filly is a power engine and is ready to rumble. She walks smoothly around the paddock with grace and knowing that she's going to win. She's brought to the gate soon and loads just as calmly.
In the third gate is Euphoria. This filly has been worked hard and looks hard to beat. She trots eagerly around the paddock after Fairy Princess. She's alert and ready to run. She later walks to the gate and loads with slight hesitation. She moves around in the gate, but finally calms down and waits.
And in gate four is the grade one winner Sweet Stalker by the grade one sire, Night Stalker. This filly is another highly anticipated filly for this race, and is right below Atalanta to win. She walks around the paddock calmly, but does jump every once in a while in excitement. Once at the gate she begins to act up. But they are finally able to load her into the gate.
And in gate five, Folksong. Folksong is the full sister to the BC Classic winner in 2007, GS Gallant Prince. This filly is trying to bring back her brother's fame into history again. Although she has only won three races, she seems ready to go for this one. She is very energized around the paddock. When loaded into the gate, she puts up a fuss, but calms down for the start.
Anddd they're off!!!
Atalanta has taken a poor start, slightly stumbling and now trying to get to the rail fastest. Sweet Stalker and Folksong both break easily now fighting for the lead. Fairy Princess is in second now, while Folksong has taken the lead. Folksong has taken the lead by three lengths! Euphoria is now in fourth, in front of Atalanta. Sweet Stalker is three lengths behind Folksong, while being head against head with Fairy Princess. It's still Folksong in the lead with Sweet Stalker and Fairy Princess are fighting for second, while Euphoria and Atalanta are now fighting for fifth and fourth. And now they're coming around the final turn! And Atalanta is making her move! She and Euphoria are both coming up on the outside! Folksong is loosing her energy, and is falling back as she's trying to push herself forwards. Sweet Stalker and Fairy Princess are both pushing themselves forwards.
But it's Atalanta and Euphoria! They're going full speed ahead, now neck and neck to the wire! Sweet Stalker at their tails! And they cross the line! But it's too close to call!

The Wire Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies
We're so super proud of Seph. Here is the pre-race banter: "Welcome to the 2008 Breeder's Cup Juvenile Fillies! Arguably our most popular race of the day, it is a balmy 80 F. The skies are cloudy, but the threat of rain is far off. We have an intense collection of the top fillies in today's race, so without further ado, the post parade....And our final entrant in today's race is Fairy Princess. A simply stunning filly, owned by Cold Creek Inc., she's our underdog at 28-1 odds. Fairy Princess is often overlooked in her races, but is already running at a grade one level with fourteen wins. She's definitely got the experience to back her up, and with the right strategy, could be taking home a win. Fairy Princess walks calmly to the last gate, picking her hooves up high so as not to get her hooves extremely dirty. With an encouraging nudge from her jockey, she steps lightly into her spot and waits quietly while the back bar is set up." And here is the race: "LSS Stalking the Stars grasps the early initiative and take soff, followed closely by RW Midnight Haunt. Atalanta stalks them two length behind, with Royal Memory running at her tail. Three lengths back has Train Wreck fending off Intuition by a half length. A full length behind them is Santana, and another length behind her is Fairy Princess. On the opening stretch, our field spans approximately ten lengths, with LSS Stalking the Stars our leader and Fairy Princess the trailer. They head to the first of the turns, the quarter going by at 21:30. The field finishes off the turn and prepares to head down the back stretch, LSS Stalking the Stars still maintaining her lead. RW Midnight Haunt has moved up on her outside and is running at her shoulder. Atalanta is galloping comfortably a length behind them. Royal Memory has dropped bak two lengths, allowing Train Wreck and Intuition to charge forward and take up her position a length and a half behind Atalanta. Fairy Princess and Santana have also moved up, with Santana now a half length behind Train Wreck and Fairy Princess a half length behind Santana. The order heading down the backstretch is LSS Stalking the Stars, RW Midnight Haunt, Atalanta, Train Wreck, Intuition, Santana, Fairy Princess, Royal Memory. The fillies are taking full advantage of the flat stretch to distance themselves as much as possible. The half goes by at 49:57, with RW Midnight Haunt now leading by a length, followed by LSS Stalking the Stars. Atalanta is still a length back, but Intuition has managed to break away from Train Wreck and has pulled alongside her. Train Wreck is running a half length behind the two, with Sanatana going stride for stride with her. Fairy Princess is starting to move up, running right behind Train Wreck and Santana. Royal Memory trails by four lengths. As they near the second turns, the pack begins gaining ground as the pace setters are forced to slow in order to mae the turn. Atalanta sweeps neatly on the inside rail, with Intuition hot on her heels. RW Midnight Haunt and LASS Stalking the Stars are dropping back as the field passes them by. Santana opens up a bit and charges after her two arch rivals, with Fairy Princess galloping in her wake for a clean cut through the pack. Train Wreck is not to be outdone, and is maintaining a nice position on the outside next a length behind Inuition. Royal Memory has caught up two lengths, with LSS Stalking the Stars and RW Midnight Haunt running a half length behind her. Coming to the third quarter, it's Intuition in the lead, with Train Wreck running gamely on her outside. Atalanta has dropped back a length, as if taunting Santana, who is practically seething as she bounds to the filly's side. Fairy Princess has been taken to the inside and is running a length behind the bay and chestnut. Royal Memory has now gained quite a bit, and is moving a half length behind Fairy Princess on her outside. RW Midnight Haunt is holding a slight lead over LSS Stalking the Stars, who have dropped back a good three lengths. The third goes by at 1:06:33, and the field straightens out for the last sprint down the final stretch. As the finish line comes into sight, the positions change drastically. Santana surges forward, coming alongside Atalanta on her inside. The three rivals have locked gazes and sprint away, leaving the pack in the dirt. But some of the girls aren't done yet! Fairy Princess and Train Wreck are going stride for stride three lengths back, with RW Midnight Haunt trailing the two at five furlongs. Royal Memory and LSS Stalking the Stars have dropped back even further, Royal Memory three lengths behind RW Midnight Haunt and LSS Stalking the Stars four behind her. All eyes are on the front of the field as the space between themselves and the finish lessens with each second. They're about 100 yards from the end, and Atalanta finally breaks away and come sup a few inches. But Santana and Intuition are not to be out done, and rally beside her. It's back to neck and neck and down to fifty yards. Fairy Princess has recovered a few lengths and is right behind Atalanta and pressuring the three leaders. Train Wreck is right on her outside and a half length back, trying to find a way between Intuition and Atalanta. Royal MEmory has passed RW Midnight Haunt, is going at an all out psrint toward the finish, but is still a good five or so lengths behind. RW Midnight Haunt is two behind her, and LSS Stalking the Stars one behind her. 25 yards left, and Fairy Princess has found a break in the ranks. Now their running four wide, neck and neck, with the addition of Train Wreck going at Intuition's shoulder on the outside, making it five. Starting on the inside, it's Santana, Atalanta, Fairy Princess, Intuition, and Train Wreck, all seemingly hitched together. They come down to the wire now, nostrils flared and eyes blazing as they focus on the prize... And it's too close to call! We'll need to consult a photograph for the top five places. Never before have we had such a large amount of horses in an inquiry for the results. However, we do know the final three placings; LSS Stalking the Stars gets 8th place after coming in at a sedate gallop. RW Midnight Haunt pulls in at 7, five lengths behind Royal Memory, who was galloping furiously to catch up to the leaders. The picture will take a while to develop and be consulted, so feel free to stretch and take any breaks needed.

Sweet Stalker takes the early lead followed closely by Kenzington. Souvenir is third, while Fairy Princess and Grand Silence battle out for last and fourth. The first half of the race is quiet, yet fast, and is done in almost record time. Sweet Stalker still has the lead, Kenzington actually fallen behind slightly. Fairy Princess is next to Kenzington now, in a perfect position to take the lead. And finally, for the first half to go fast, the 3rd quarter is slower. They finally come around the turn, when Grand Silence makes an early move. He passes Souvenir, but Souvenir won't let him get far. He follows Grand Silence's path to the front. Grand Silence passes Fairy Princess, and Sweet Stalker, who is beginning to loose speed. Grand Silence now has the lead down the stretch. Souvenir is neck to him, behind him by a nose. Fairy Princess makes her move, but is blocked out by the falling Sweet Stalker and Kenzington. Kenzington is two lengths behind the leaders, while Fairy Princess follows Kenzington closely. Sweet Stalker has lost speed, and has fell behind in last. The two lead horses battle it out, and they cross the line! Too close to call! We'll look at that for the photo finish. Kenzington comes flying by a half a length behind the leaders, while Fairy Princess comes right behind him. Sweet Stalker comes two lengths behind them Fairy Princess.

Gate 1: Fairy Princess Gate 2: Admirable Gate 3: Sweet Stalker Gate 4: Born To Fly
They're loaded into the gates! And they're off! Fairy Princess takes an early lead of about two lengths. Admirable settles into second, staying behind Fairy Princess and not attempting to take her lead. Sweet Stalker has taken third, while Born To Fly is blocked in fourth, and unable to pass. The gallop in this same order as they come around the first turn. They stay in this order, all the time Born To Fly tries to pass Sweet Stalker. Sweet Stalker takes a few large steps and passes Admirable. Admirable allows her to pass and stays in third. Finally, they come around the turn. Fairy Princess is asked, and she bursts off to take a lead of four lengths. But wait! Born to Fly comes up! She found a way inside of Admirable, but Admirable sees her and follows her. Fairy Princess is trying hard to hold her lead. Sweet Stalker tries too, but overwhelmed by both Admirable and Born To Fly and falls back. She gets in front of Fairy Princess, while Fairy Princess is stuck behind. Admirable and Born To Fly are caught neck to neck as they head to the finish line! It's tight! Everyone's screaming and out of their seats! Suddenly they both fly across the finish line. No jockey raises their whip in victory. No one has any idea who won. Now they are getting the photo finish. And they put it on the board, the finishers are posted!

"First up in Gate 1, we have Santana. A very experienced racer, winning many racers and is a top pick for todays race. She loads well and her jockey settles in, her gates are closed. In Gate 2, we have Innoxa. A new colt in the world of racing, but has an impressive pedigree. Not a top pick, but near the top. He gives a little fuss at the gate, but is coaxed in, and the gate is shut behind him. In Gate 3 we have Speed Demon, a new colt on the track, he already has become very popular. Another top pick for this race. He loads well, and is ready to race. In Gate 4, we have Dangereux. Not very well known, but does have a few wins. A fourth/fifth pick for the race. He loads with a fuss, but settles down with his jockey helping. Gate 5, we have Fairy Princess. A pretty new horse on the track, but is still bet on. She loads beautifully, obviously a pro. The gates are closed. Gate 6, we have Intuition. Another top choice for this race. This horse has done amazingly well in her career. She loads quickly and quietly, the gates are closed. And they're off!! Dangereux has taken the lead. Fairy Princess has stumbled a little at the gate, but easily recovers to head up behind Dangereux. Santana is in third, and not far behind her is Speed Demon. Intuition and Innoxa are both fighting over fifth and sixth. The pack moves to the quarter mark on the track. Innoxa has gained in front of Intuition and is in fifth. Santana still holds her grip on third. It's the halfway mark. The jockeys prepare themselves for coming to the homestretch. The horses pick up some pace on the track, preparing for it themselves. They take the turn and come down the stretch. Innoxa and Intuition both make their move, along with the whole pack. Santana bullets up past Fairy Princess to take second. Dangereux has fallen back, and is now in second. Speed Demon follows close behind. Both Fairy Princess and Dangereux have fallen back. Innoxa and Intuition are both trying hard to get past the other. Wait! Intuition has cut to the inside. She found a way in front of Innoxa, Fairy Princess, and Dangereux. She slides past them all, narrowly missing a crash. She and Speed Demon race neck and neck. Innoxa takes the outside to follow after Intuition. Speed Demon seems to stutter a little, and Innoxa takes third. Santana is in the lead, with Intuition in the front, and Innoxa in third. The pack bullets across the finish line. Here are the results.
