Patrick is our very first purchase from GHF and honestly, we weren't looking for another racer to add to our string but our oh-so-lovely show rider Dylan Miller insisted that this boy was too fantastic to pass up. Dylan even paid for half of him out of pocket and is therefore his jockey and trainer. Dylan's psyched as ever about his successes with goof-ball Patrick. We are excited for him and happily front the costs. Here is the information on his stall at the sale: "Under saddle he's the wild one, the spunky speed horse that needs to be tamed. Would make a great sprinter." Dylan couldn't agree more. On the track, Patrick has blazing speed and the brawn to help him outlast other horses. He is careful about where he positions himself and is quite ignorant about Dylan's input on racing strategy during the race. Patrick's hard-headedness is only due to his age, says Roger and our CCI elders are sure that Patrick will grow out of it but as of right now, he can be a complete bonehead on the track! The only real fault we have found with Patrick is that he can get really anxious. He absolutely NEEDS blinkers because anything and everything can and will freak him out. Dylan still working him through his fears and he's been improving with each race. Around the barn, he keeps to himself a lot of the time. He is affectionate and loves to play games with the staff he knows well. He is easy-going about his turnout and doesn't care much about the fillies as of right now (although he enjoys beating them on the track for some reason). Patrick is oblivious to the fillies at the barn who have crushes on him and he is a complete goof-ball. We love him though and know that he is going to be much more than the boneheaded boy he is now.
