Cadet was acquired from a HMEC herd reduction and we were drawn to his reserved but hard-working style. He is very timid about new situations and rarely overextends himself to win. We're pretty sure that he can do math and calculate things. No really! If he feels he's up for it and calculates that the timing is good, this little guy can outsmart all of the others in the field. All the jockey really has to do is sit up there, which is fine for Monica! Cadet doesn't care much about surface or weather (although he runs best over long distances on dirt), he just bares down. Cadet is really quiet compared to his "in-your-face" counterpart, Preston, so having him around the barn is a real pleasure! He was Monica's very first project here and she loves being able to work with him and watch him succeed. Reed helped her get him started but Monica added in some of her natural expertise. She's enjoyed working with him on the ground as well and often grooms him for hours on end. Their shift from racing to showing was seamless and Cadet really does well as a hunter. Monica loves to show this guy and we doubt that these two will ever be seperated. He's extremely agreeable and is a great horse to help build her confidence in horses. Cadet is unaffected by pressure or hyper situations and rarely reacts to anything happening around him. Adrenaline is not a problem for Cadet though and he has plenty of it to spare when he goes. When he does win, it is clear he won due to intellect, not brawn. In fact, Cadet doesn't even look like a thoroughbred at all. He doesn't have the muscle that some others do and has the sleek and skinny look to him. Despite that disadvantage upfront, Cadet does very well and tries his best every time. We love him for that!

Airliner stood out to me as being ready and everything. - [Kaylin, on the Dubai World Cup]
I LOVE airliner; he's probably one of my personal favorites! - [azule]
It was really close with Cadet and El Sol Del Mar, but I felt that Cadet really deserved it, you've been working well with him lately. He came 4th in the UH Dirt, and since that he hasn't been out of the money. I thought he deserved it. - [Millie]
Definitely one to watch.- [Snowflake]
