"Like her father, this filly has a great desire to run. In the pasture you will normally see her galloping around and trying to get others to race her - with increasing frustration if no horse takes her up. When her challenges are accepted, however, she shows a great deal of courage and a need to win. She gives these races her all, and definitely has the spirit of a true racer. She is an excitable filly, and all she has to do is see a chance to run for her to become more difficult to handle. She wants to run, so the second a door opens she'll charge, or she'll pull against the rein in a bid to reach the track all the faster. When away from the track, Goddess is a very sweet-natured filly. She loves to be given attention and while she doesn't exactly enjoy grooming, she will go through anything for a little time with humans. She is not a domineering mare, and her main flaws come from her desire to run. This sweet filly will give you her all, and will form bonds with ease. Before a race, it is not uncommon for Goddess to he highly energetic and pulling against the rein as if it will get her to the track more quickly. She does not actually react to the presence of other horses at this stage, as in her mind there is no competition at this point, and she just wants to get started. Other than perhaps being a little impatient to reach the track, she tends to be easily enough to handle. She despises the starting gate, and so gating is a bit of a drama with Goddess. She kicks up a huge fuss, rearing and kicking out to avoid being put into the space and even once boxed she does not settle - she rears and kicks in an attempt to escape. This behavior means that her starts tend to be slow. For a closer, a slow start is not an issue and she will settle in at the back of the pack. She runs well, and responds well to her jockey - especially if it is a jockey she has rode with before, or with whom she has had time to bond with. She does not tend to push forwards unless encouraged to by her jockey, and waits for the cue to make her move. The one thing you can guarantee is that she is highly competitive in the home stretch. She experiences a great burst of speed and knows a great deal of speed. Her spirit and desire to fight in every stride means she is able to break ahead of most of the pack. Presenting her with a challenge will lead her to push even harder as she battles for supremacy. Grand Silence, Goddess's sire, was an impressive racehorse. In forty-seven starts he won over half of them, with twenty-four wins by the time he was retired. Included in this impressive total are some big race names such as the Unicorn Horn Juvenile and the Breeder's Cup Marathon. Grand Silence has some impressive offspring, including the likes of Sillenia and Silent Fury. When compared to the statistics of Goddess's sire, her dam could be said to look unimpressive. With no races to her name there is nothing really to brag about in that respect. What there is to brag about, however, are her progeny. Despite having few foals currently on the track those she has are something to brag about. The dam of the Breeder's Cup Juvenile Fillies' and Acorn Stakes winner, Afterglow, she has some real talent in her blood. Luscia is also the dam of Spitting Image, a grade three three year old, but don't forget the likes of Grade One horses, Vendetta, Alluring Assault and Worldbreaker. It seems we have a winning combination here in the likes of this Grand Silence x Luscia cross. If Goddess takes after her sire and siblings she is destined for great things." We were absolutely ecstatic to get our hands on this filly when Frosty offered her to us! Goddess can be a little bit much to handle but we have paired her with a very brave jockey, Joshua. Josh and Goddess have taken to each other quite well, both excitable as well as strong willed. Josh is certainly not afraid to ask Goddess for more and the filly loves his aggressive riding style. The two are hoping to see success in the future!
