"This colt is a hoot to watch but a horror to train. He seems to take after his dam with her ADHD. He just does not stop moving! He is constantly running around and throwing his head around. He has an eye popping speed that can be unleashed from a stand still position. He is also a little bit selfish. Everything just has to be about him all the time. He does not get along well with other horses and has to be kept solitary in his pastures. He just does not socialize well, nor does he even try. He sticks to himself and just runs and runs. Optimus loves to just run and run. He doesn't care much about the competition or about the race. He just cares about running. He can easily take races from wire to wire, increasing his speed as he goes, especially with races a mile or under. He also can be a closer if he has to since he has a great closing kick. He just doesn't care, he just runs. He usually runs best on the dirt track but once again as soon as this guy starts to run it is hard to stop him. Optimus is the first foal from grade one stakes mare Train Wreck. She ran best at a mile. His sire is grade one stakes sprinter Shiver Me Timbers. He was bred to be a sprinter and that is what he turned out to be. This colt has speed! When Kirsten wanted a sprinter she knew exactly which stud to use from her list of reserves, the great Timbo Tam. Optimus' dam, Train Wreck won many great races such as the Dubai Filly Cup and the Breeder's Cup Mile. She was always full of energy and had a great amount of starting speed which gave Kirsten the impression she could produce some great sprinters. She was not disappointed in her first foal: Optimus Unstoppable. Shiver Me Timbers has been siring many sprinter champions such as grade two Buccaneer, Prideful Limits and more." Before even meeting Optimus, we were sold on him just by his bloodlines alone. Lily fell in love with the colt the second he stepped off the trailer and claimed him as her own. They have quickly gotten to know and like each other although Lily often tries to get Optimus to be more social and he doesn't take very well to that. Lily's buoyant riding style allows Optimus to do what he loves best, his job, while being able to incorporate her direction. We are so excited to see Optimus race in our silks!
